Paul Cassidy Recognized for 40 Years of Service to Bernalillo County

    05/08/2018

At its administrative meeting on Tuesday, May 8, the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners thanked Paul Cassidy for being an invaluable part of the county’s financial team for over 40 years. During his time in the field of public finance in New Mexico, Cassidy has completed transactions for virtually all issuers of debt in our state. He joined RBC Capital Markets in 1994 and has served as the county’s financial advisor since June of 2012.

Cassidy has used his exceptional abilities to guide Bernalillo County in its debt financing, helping the county make advantageous decisions while maintaining excellent credit ratings. He also has collaborated with county management to develop and implement Government Finance Officers Association best practice financial policies.

Cassidy has employed his expertise to consistently protect the interests of all Bernalillo County residents through his input on the following projects:

    • Development of new investment policies and strategies that have increased transparency to taxpayers and investors.
    • Development of a long-term general obligation bond cycle strategy that increased bi-annual bonding capacity while stabilizing the bond debt service tax rate and saving taxpayer dollars.
    • Development of fund balance and economic development financing policies.
    • Financial and debt structuring analysis that made possible the purchase of a new county building and Metropolitan Detention Center energy efficiency investments.

Cassidy’s knowledge, expertise, and integrity made him a trusted resource to whom county leadership looked for objective, measured, and well-reasoned advice on a number of key policy and management issues. His generosity, service, and dedication to the public good have set a high standard for our county and our community.
