Bernalillo County FY 2019 Q4 Employees of the Quarter Honored

The Employee Recognition Committee presents seven employees to the Board of Commissioners to receive the recognition of Employee of the Quarter. Each person selected received the highest ranking in their division. The recognition committee ranked each nomination form submitted and selected the employee from each division with the highest average. The Board of County Commissioners recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of seven employees who have shown exemplary dedication to Bernalillo County.

BernCo Commission Approves Plastic Bag and Styrofoam Ban in Unincorporated Bernalillo County

The Board of Commissioners tonight approved an ordinance to ban single-use plastic bags and Styrofoam (polystyrene) containers in the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County, outside the city limits of Albuquerque.

Massive Behavioral Health Training and Education Efforts Launched by Bernalillo County

Sadly, New Mexico has some of the highest rates of mental illness and substance abuse in the nation- highlighting the need for a continuum of behavioral health care. In 2015 Bernalillo County created the Behavioral Health Initiative to build that system of care, to date, the BHI has created 19 programs.

Bernalillo County’s Behavioral Health Initiative to Partner with Mayor Keller to Keep Westside Shelter Open Year-Round

At an event at the facility, Mayor Tim Keller and Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca joined other City and County officials and shelter managers to cement a new partnership that keeps the Westside Emergency Housing Center open year-round and increases access to services.

    • Bernalillo County Open Space and Cottonwood Gulch Explorations are hosting Fall Family Fun Days every Sunday through November, noon – 5 p.m. at Bachechi Open Space, 9521 Rio Grande Boulevard NW. Fall Family Fun Days offers free fun for the whole family. Each week includes a new crafts project, outdoor activities and experiments, to help everyone discover the outdoor world. Every month is also a new theme. In September, learn how to identify wildlife by “Tracking.” Families receive tracking guides with molds of animal tracks and scat to discover the activity of local creatures.
