Commissioner James M. Collie attended the Grand Re-Opening of the De Anza Motor Lodge on Tuesday, March 10. The event included a re-introduction of the Shalako Ceremonial Procession Murals and a painting created by renowned artist, R.C. Nowlin, especially for the De Anza.

Tiny Home Village Breaks Ground in More Ways Than One

Bernalillo County along with partners, supporters and the community broke ground on the Tiny Home Village project, adjacently located to the Albuquerque Indian Center, 105 Texas St. SE.

On Jan. 29 BernCo Commissioners passed a resolution calling upon the State Legislature and the governor to enact and implement legislation allowing for the issuance of extreme risk firearm protection orders.

BernCo Opens 24-Hour Crisis Center for Behavioral Health

Bernalillo County has opened its first 24-hour crisis triage and treatment center to provide behavioral health services for those who might otherwise end up in a hospital’s emergency department, jail, or be sent back into the community still struggling with severe behavioral and mental health issues.

BernCo Commission Approves Funding for Mesa del Sol Outdoor Regional Sports Complex

On Dec. 11 the BernCo Board of Commissioners approved $1 million to support the construction of Phase 2 of the Mesa del Sol Regional Outdoor Sports Complex at the Dr. E.A. Swede Scholer Regional Sports Complex.

BernCo Passes Minimum Wage Increase

On Oct. 15 the Bernalillo County Commission approved the minimum wage cost of living increase from $9.05 to $9.20 per hour. The increase will take effect on Jan. 1, 2020.

County Commission Approves Paid Time Off Ordinance

On Aug. 20 the BernCo Commission approved a paid time off ordinance that will mandate business owners in the unincorporated areas of the county, with two or more employees, to provide paid leave.
