Youth Services Center

The First Tee  provides underserved youth an opportunity to excel in life by promoting character education and The First Tee Nine Core Values through the game of golf. For participants in juvenile justice programs across the country, The First Tee DRIVE will enable them to better define values and expectations, improve their communication and decision making, and become more responsible and accountable for their actions.

The First Tee DRIVE is a fun, engaging program designed to expose young people to the behaviors associated with The First Tee Nine Core Values: respect, courtesy, responsibility, honesty, sportsmanship, confidence, judgment, perseverance and integrity. Participants are exposed to these core values through golf-based games, using sports with which young people are already familiar, including baseball, football, bowling and tennis.  This activity-based program has been specifically designed and written for youth serving organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club and The Y.

Because there are more than 73 million young people (1 in 4) in juvenile justice programs in the United States, The First Tee is committed to help change this terrible trend.  The First Tee DRIVE provides juveniles with unique experiential learning opportunities so that they might discover an otherwise dormant interest or talent. Our intention is to assist young people with re-entry by promoting positive pro-social behaviors, inspiring them to stay crime-free; thus reducing the likelihood they would end up in the adult criminal justice system.  Our goal is to help young people become productive citizens in our society.
